GIGGLING GOOSE GOES FOR SECOND VOLVO S80

Volvo Car South Africa has put another S80 up for grabs at the 2010 Nedbank Golf Challenge after the first was won yesterday by Retief Goosen when he became the first player to eagle on the 17th.

The 17th on the Gary Player Golf course at Sun City is notoriously tricky and Goosen's eagle was only the second ever in the history of this prestigious tournament. Retief played boldly by hitting his driver off the 17th, in order to leave himself with a short shot in, and then hit his wedge-shot to perfection to spin the ball back into the hole.

"I had been looking for elephants on the on the 14th and 15th holes – and then found an eagle on the 17th," he joked. "I was playing with a Swede, and then I won a Swedish car," he added.

After removing his ball from the hole, Goosen playfully threw it at the S80 parked on the water. "They tell me my ball actually hit the car – well it's my car now so I can do what I like," said Goosen. During his professional career, Retief Goosen has had a number of eagles and eight holes-in-one, but this is the first time he's won a prize for any of them.

The S80 is Volvo's flagship of elegant design and relaxing interior comfort, offering a rewarding driving experience. This while providing top-class fuel consumption and CO2 emissions. And you can fit at least 5 sets of golf clubs in the boot. A premium sedan that satisfies customers with high demands.

The S80 D5 that was won in such spectacular fashion is on display at the Avis 17th hole on the Gary Player golf course on a raft in the water – beautiful in white with dramatic red waves to show off brightly against the water.

This is the first time in eight years that a player has managed to win the Volvo, which is traditionally the prize at the Avis 17th hole – and the good news is that Volvo Car South Africa has decided to put a second Volvo S80 up for grabs on the 17th.

The Volvo S80 a hard to beat offer
"I would like to give those who know about the Volvo S80 but who have never driven one, a sound piece of advice. Take a closer look at this car and take it out for a thorough test drive. You'll be amazed at what we have achieved." Says Bram van der Reep, managing director of Volvo Car South Africa.
