TRENDY PEUGEOT 107 NOW EVEN MORE AFFORDABLE

PEUGEOT SAYS: Peugeot’s stylish and funky 107 runabout has become even more affordable thanks to a realignment of the range, including new names even better suited to its fun-loving personality. An additional model has been added with the two derivatives badged Urban and Trendy, and their tantalising mix of specification and practicality – not to mention a good dose of spunk – looks set to confirm the 107’s popularity for both the young  and young at heart after a great deal. Priced at R110 500 and R121 500 respectively, consumers after a car which punches above its weight will find it right here.

Both models are fitted with features such as air conditioner, CD front loader and central locking with the Trendy identified by alloys and colour-coded bumpers and mirrors. The interior of the ‘flagship’ adds electric front windows, rev counter and remote activation for the central locking. Corner Stability Control (CBC) and side airbags provide an enhanced level of occupant safety, though with its confident and sure-footed handling the 107 rates as an exceptionally stable car for starters. Safety and security features include electrically-assisted power steering, anti-lock brakes with EBD, rear wiper, and a full-sized spare wheel.

With its four-seater configuration the 107 is the ideal choice for the young family or the unattached individual, many of whom will be first time buyers. Another segment will be more mature buyers – often empty-nesters - wanting a user-friendly and fuel-efficient suburban runabout. A 50:50 split rear seat makes it surprisingly versatile.

With both petrol prices and traffic congestion on the rise, the 107 makes more sense than ever before. It is perfectly sized for the modern urban commuting, and its zesty three-cylinder, 998 cc multivalve engine (50kW and 93Nm) uses just 4.6 litres per 100 km in mixed driving. Even better, with just 109 grams of the greenhouse gas emitted per kilometre, it won’t incur any emissions tax come September.
