2300 NISSAN AND INFINITI CARS DAMAGED BY JAPAN TSUNAMI

Automotive News Europe reports that around 2 300 units of Nissan and Infiniti branded cars were damaged beyond repair as they got swept through by rushing waters caused by the tsunami of Friday the 11th. The tsunami, caused by the 8.9 earthquake that struck the north-eastern Japanese coastline near the city of Sendai, sent notable shockwaves as far as Tokyo, 400km away.

Nissan had parked the cars at two coastal loading ports while most of them waited to be transported to North America. Half were destined for the local market. Included in the consignment were Infiniti M, EX, FX models, as well as 370 Z sports cars. Fortunately no one was hurt.
