FIAT 500 CABRIOLET FOR GENEVA, LATER MZANSI

Fiat is preparing a cabriolet version of its popular 500 for a public reveal at the Geneva Motor Show in a couple of months’ time. The car will feature a canvass/ cloth top which when removed, goes to he back of the car but does not completely stow away into the boot area.

The 500 C as it will be called, is powered by 1.2-litre (51kW) and 1.4-litre (75kW) petrol engines. Chief rival MINI already showed its convertible version which will be launched in South Africa within the next few months. We know the 500 cabriolet also lands here before the end of 2009 at a price range that we think will be between R220 000 and R250 000.
