FORD EXTENDS WRC PARTICIPATION PAST 2010

Ford Europe has decided to extend its participation in World Rally Championship (WRC) for another two seaons. Ford put its trust on the Focus RS World Rally Car and was duly rewarded with the manufacturers' World title in 2006 and in 2007. Next seasons the same car will be on duty trying to win both driver’s and manufacturers Championships. However in 2011 the team will make use of the new Fiesta S2000.

Drivers currently contracted with the team will be kept as is. They are Mikko Hirvonen / Jarmo Lehtinen and Jari-Matti Latvala / Miikka Anttila.

“The WRC is motorsport's toughest competition for production-based vehicles,” said Ford of Europe chairman and CEO John Fleming, “and we're delighted to be extending our participation. I believe that our successes in WRC and other motorsport disciplines give Ford employees the opportunity to be proud of the company for which they work. I hope they will share my pride at seeing Ford's vehicles on the winners' podium around the world for years to come.”
