A long hood, a short tail end, and sweeping low doors. When the BMW 328 Roadster was first introduced to the public in 1936, its exceptionally sporty design immediately attracted a large following of auto enthusiasts. Almost 70 years after production ended in 1940, the dream sports car is back again – as a vehicle for children three to five years old.
A close replica.
Like the great car it was modeled after, the children’s version of the BMW 328 Roadster makes a strong impression with its large round headlights, double kidney grille, and split windshield. Seen from a distance, you might almost believe you are seeing the original, which earned its place as one of the most wanted racing cars in the world by recording many victories in the mid-1930s.
Two different power options.
In terms of power, the small version has to concede defeat to its larger predecessor, of which less than 500 units were ever built. Instead of the 80 horsepower, six-cylinder engine that was used in the series version, the children’s version is powered either by an electric motor or by the young drivers themselves – by turning the pedals as fast as possible. The new vehicle has also been certified for safety by the German Technical Inspection Association (TÜV), and its steering wheel is carefully designed to be slip-proof.
For indoor and outdoor use.
Special rubber tyres ensure that the BMW 328 Roadster for children runs silently when taken out for a spin, and that it never damages wooden floors when used inside. True to the style of the original, the children’s version also has a spare wheel on top of the trunk.
The BMW 328 Roadster for children will be available at BMW Dealers nationwide as from October 2009.
