Sportec from Switzerland (not to be confused with the South African Sportech) has become the latest tuner to take a standard Golf and do tricks with it. They chose the baseline 1.4 TSI which at its highest produces 118kW.
Having tweaked it electronically Sportec was able to match the Golf V GTI’s power figure of 147kW (200hp) but upped the torque to 300Nm between 1800rpm and 3000rpm. Sportec says the 0 – 100km/h sprint is taken in 8.2 seconds, which while it may beat the factory 1.4 TSI’s by 1.4 seconds, is no match for the old GTI’s 7.2 seconds.
There are a few bodykit enhancements but nothing really major.
