A report by The Telegraph shows that a 37-year-old man from Sweden has been fined the highest speed fine ever for driving at 290km/h in Switzerland. He said his speedometer was faulty. Right. The guy was driving his shiny new Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG when older camera caught him at 200km/h.
Fortunately for him
, up to that point anyway, those cameras could only record up to 200km/h. At a later stage the newer, more sophisticated equipment clocked his record-breaking run of 290km/h. And I thought the SLS is limited to 250km/h.
Cops nabbed the guy and he faces a fine of around R7 million. That’s because in Switzerland speeding fines are calculated using a formula that is based on the speed and the driver’s income.
