During the run-up to the launch of the McLaren MP4-12C, McLaren executives kept impressing on the fact that the 12C would not be their company’s last blast. In fact, it’s actually the first of a number of cars, three of which were officially confirmed. In terms of placement, the 12C sits in the middle of these initial three.
Since the 12C is a Ferrari 458 Italia/ Lamborghini Gallardo competitor, it’s safe to assume that the likes of Aventador and Veyron will now be challenged. Entry-level Porsche 911s are also not safe. The new super McLaren will, according to Autocar, be good for about 596kW or 799 bhp in old speak, from its twin-turbo 5.0-litre V8 engine. They say it will be able to go from 0 – 100km/h in around 2.9 seconds.
