BRABUS, tuners of cars known for their work on the Mercedes-Benz brand, have completed a tuning programme for the facelifted 2008 Mercedes-Benz M-Class range using a tuning kit they call Widestar.
Starting with the ML 350 which gets 211kW (287hp), then moving to the ML 320 CDI now with 200kW (272hp) and 590Nm and then on to the ML 420 CDI’s 257kW (350hp) and torque is 700Nm. South Africa doesn’t get the ML 420 CDI. Top of the normal range is the ML 500 whose engine has been upgraded to displace 6.1-litres instead of 5.5-litres. The BRABUS ML 500 then gets a power upgrade to 340kW (462hp).
What would BRABUS be without turning an AMG model into a monster? They’ve done the same to the new ML 63 AMG with goes from 378kW to 404kW (500hp to 550hp) and a massive torque of 700Nm. BRABUS calls this model the B63S and it goes from 0 – 100km/h in just 4.9 seconds. The B63S wears big 23-inch tyres and has a suspension that can be lowered to 30mm to improve handling.
As you can see from the pics, lots of work has also been achieved inside the cars. Alcantara and something called Mastik leather are applied to full effect, while things are DVD players, BRABUS signage and LED lights are included.
