Mercedes-Benz introduced the smart for-two Electric Drive in Detroit. The car is a prototype of the final product which runs on lithium-ion batteries. Tesla Motors, a company known for its electric vehicles, is supplying smart cars with 1,000 of these batteries. Production will begin at the end of 2009.
