The 2009 Miss Universe Japan crown was won by pretty 24 year old model Emiri Miyasaka (Emily Miyasaka) 宮坂 絵美里 at the Tokyo International Forum last night. Miss Photogenic was Chiharu Iijima and Fans Award Winner was Marie Ooyama.
Miyasaka who lived for a year in the U.S., beat more than 3,000 applicants for this year’s title. The judging panel included Miss Universe Japan National Director Ines Ligron, singer Shizuka Kudo, Lotte Marines baseball manager Bobby Valentine, Miss Universe 2006 runner-up Kurara Chibana, TV personality Girolama Panzetta and DJ and TV host Chris Peppler.
Emiri will represent Japan at the Miss Universe final on Aug 23 in Nassau, Bahamas.
