Dodge unveiled its veins in the new 2012 Charger SRT8 in the bowels of Chicago city. The stomping Charger is a bold statement in power-mongering and personifies muscle cars of old like few other modern cars. In short, the car just looks like Sly Stallone with a Vin Diesel attitude.
Most of that is because of the powerful front grille with a strong open-mouth policy that threatens to swallow all who dare try and cross it. The bonnet (hood) bulges like the pockets of Lehman Brothers bankers, hinting at something menacing right there underneath. Side skirts are wide, but interestingly the fenders are not. A unibrow rear lights cluster that looks really cool at night sweeps across the backside.
Turning the key releases a horde of 465 horses (347kW) from the 6.4-litre HEMI V8, which is pleasant news for current SRT8 owners who’ve had to make do with a 317kW motor for years now. Torque is measured at 630Nm, both sent to the rear wheels through a 5-speed automatic gearbox. The 0 – 100km/h sprint goes by in less than 5 seconds, with a top speed of 282km/h (175mph).
The car is installed with nice interior comforts like Uconnect Touch with an 8.4-inch touch display screen, and a 900 watt Harmon Kardon sound system.
