Mazda is unveiling the facelift Mazda3 at the 2011 Geneva International Motor Show just several weeks after it’s shown it at the Canadian Auto show. The new car, as expected, is carrying a different front end as well as a redesigned rear. Also new is the powertrain in one of the models which is said to improve fuel efficiency through some techno trickery.
SKYACTIV-G is the technology employed and includes an engine and gearbox. It is said to increase torque at lower revs and mid-range speeds in order to improve driveability and fuel usage. Other items like start/stop, regenerative braking and hybrid systems will eventually be introduced.
So when can we expect the new face of Mazda3 to debut in South Africa? Probably at the 2011 Johannesburg International Motor Show (JIMS) in NASREC in October. Sales should start sometime after that.
